Mathare, Kenya - Dental

Thank you in advance for considering using your professional dental training to bless the under-resourced in Mathare Valley, Kenya this next summer. This valley of the poor is just miles away from some of the most affluent in all of Africa, and yet has over a million residents that live on less than $2 a day.  Basic dental care is virtually unheard of for the average person living there. You will be working in one of our two dental clinics at either the Pangani school, Mathare Valley, or at our boarding school in Joska some 30 miles away. Your primary patients would be the children, staff, and families of those that attend the Mission of Hope schools in those areas.  We are developing a team of dentists, hygienists, and assistants led by Dr. Tim Hedrick to work in Nairobi. Joining a micro team like this means you will spend your days doing what you have been trained to do… Dentistry, a service that will provide relief, restore smiles, and give confidence. Your trip to Kenya will end with an amazing two-day safari seeing the animals of the Serengeti/Masai Mara plains.

Physically vigorous
Mostly unpaved, very uneven/hilly terrain and lots of walking with some heavy lifting
Rarely comfortable climate - sometimes hot or cold, probably no A/C.
Most of the following conditions: uncertainty, odd schedules, emotional stress, long or difficult travel days, culture shock, language barrier, jet lag, changing or rough accommodations, or simple meals.
