Kenya Special Needs Micro Team
The Mathare Valley in Kenya is home to over one million people, making it one of the most populated slums in the world. For over 20 years now, Eastside has partnered with Missions of Hope to provide compassionate care to those who call this slum home. A few years ago, Eastside and Missions of Hope partnered together to establish a school called Bobendogo, which currently serves many students by providing individualized care for both the families and children with special needs. This summer, we are excited to offer a wonderful opportunity to provide care and support to children with special needs living in the Mathare Valley through a Micro Team of specialists. This team will collaborate with MOHI’s team of local professionals to enhance and expand existing programs, to provide outreach and education, to give respite and ministry to families of children with special needs, and to help establish new systems to be implemented when the new building opens. This is a unique opportunity to use your God-given knowledge, profession and/or skills to bless others. The work on this trip will be pivotal in establishing the foundation for the future of this program, and life-changing for the families supporting children with special needs. Team members can expect to be inspired, to experience new clinical perspectives, and to be challenged in their clinical applications. The trip will also end with an optional excursion, an incredible two-day safari in the Masai Mara/Serengeti plains, with the rest of the Eastside teams. If you have education, training, or experience as a Special Education teacher, Paraprofessional, Registered Behavior Technician, Speech and Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Social Worker, Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Psychologist, Psychiatrist, or anything between or beyond, this invitation is for you! Come join us this summer for the most unique and fulfilling professional development you’ll ever experience!
Cost of the Opportunity is $2,800 + Optional Excursion $1,200. Total cost $4,000 (if you choose to do the optional Excursion).
If you choose to sponsor a child in this country you will have the opportunity to meet and spend time with your child--truly a once in a lifetime experience!
