Step into a life-changing opportunity to use your professional skills in one of the most underserved communities in the world. The Mathare Valley in Nairobi is home to more than one million people, making it one of the largest and most populated slums on earth. For over 20 years, Eastside has partnered with Missions of Hope International (MOHI) to bring education, nutrition, healthcare, and spiritual hope to families living here.

A few years ago, Eastside and MOHI launched the Bobendogo School, designed to serve children and families with special needs through individualized care. This summer, you are invited to join a Special Needs Micro Team of specialists helping to expand and strengthen this vital program for the future.

How You’ll Serve
• Collaborate with Local Professionals – Work alongside MOHI’s special needs team to strengthen and expand existing programs in both Special Education and General Education settings.
• Provide Outreach & Education – Empower families with tools and encouragement to better support their children.
• Offer Respite & Ministry – Share compassion, prayer, and hope with parents who often feel forgotten.
• Build for the Future – Help design systems that will shape the launch of the new Bobendogo building.
• Meet Your Sponsored Child – Experience the joy of connecting face-to-face with the child you’ve been praying for and supporting—or begin a new sponsorship and start a life-changing relationship.

Accommodations: Each evening you’ll return to clean, air-conditioned rooms where you can rest, reflect, and prepare for the next day of service.
Safari: Your journey concludes with an optional two-day safari in the breathtaking Masai Mara/Serengeti plains, alongside other Eastside Kenya teams—an unforgettable adventure at the heart of Africa.

This trip is physically moderate, and will likely contain mostly unpaved, uneven/hilly terrain, or lots of walking/stairs and/or medium lifting. Sometimes comfortable climate, maybe no A/C. Probably 3-4 of the following conditions–uncertainty, odd schedules, emotional stress, long or difficult travel days, culture shock, language barrier, jet lag, uncomfortable accommodations, unfamiliar food.
