Turkana, Kenya Team

Come join us this summer in Turkana as we partner with Missions of Hope, serving in one of the neediest parts of the world. Turkana is a desert region in Northern Kenya, where some of the oldest tribal communities have lived for thousands of years. You will have the incredible opportunity to make a difference by sharing God’s love in meaningful and tangible ways. You will work in the villages, building new homes made of mud and tree branches for the poorest families. Our team will bring much needed food baskets to the surrounding community. We'll connect with many of the students to share the hope of Christ through special activities like swimming outings, a meaningful boys’ conference, and so much more. Choosing to serve the people of Turkana will impact their life and yours in so many ways. This is a Physically Strenuous trip (see below), however your accommodations are clean, single AC rooms allowing you to escape the heat and get good rest at the end of the day. Your African journey will end with an optional incredible two-day safari in the Masai Mara/Serengeti plains. 

Cost of the Opportunity is $2,800 + Optional Excursion $1,200. Total cost $4,000 (if you choose to do the optional Excursion).

Physically Vigorous
This trip will likely contain mostly unpaved, very uneven/hilly terrain, lots of walking and some heavy lifting. Rarely comfortable climate, sometimes hot or cold, probably no A/C. Most of the following conditions–uncertainty, odd schedules, emotional stress, long or difficult travel days, culture shock, language barrier, jet lag, uncomfortable accommodations, unfamiliar food. Not recommended for those with serious health conditions (including pregnancy).
