I was a part of a 2 week medical team to the Philippines and I was assigned to the Triage Area. I conducted blood pressure, temperature, blood glucose, heart rate, and O2 sensor checks along with medical history and the patients chief complaint. We saw over 900 patients during 7 medical clinics and some were in austere environments.
I enjoyed this assignment as I got to be up close and personal with the patients and put them at ease while I obtained their information and conducted checks on them. I was given a translator in case they didn’t understand something in English.
It was exciting to see the patients go through the process and and obtain needed medical care, eye ware, or prayers on their behalf.
